I had my first seller's experience with Craigslist. It was very strange to me. We decided to sell our "old" couch in order to accommodate a new couch which I got a steal of a deal on (seriously, you should ask me how much I paid). I posted the couch a couple of weeks ago, before the crazy storm. We had one guy come over and boy was that akward. Our one bedroom apartment did not allow us to leave him alone to look at the couch. So instead we were forced to make small talk while he stretched out on our couch. "So, where are you from?" "Can you believe it's going to snow?" "Oh, isn't Portland great." All the while I just wanted to scream, "So, do you like our couch or not?" He told us he would get back to us after he "thought about it." After he left I felt really nervous and almost hurt. If he didn't want it, did it mean he didn't like us? It felt like we were being interviewed for an adopt-a-couch program and had just been evaluated on how clean our house was, how attractive we were and if we were friendly enough. Well, he eventually got back to us and tried to bargain. To that I said "Pshhh...yeah right."
We posted it again the next week and got 10 replies within 8 hours. I had to have my friend, Carrie, come over to be my backup just in case a creeper came over hoping I was alone . Instead a very nice girl came over to look at it and said, "I want it. I'm so tired of looking. How much was it again?" Oh, you can imagine my relief when I realized our happy little couch would be going to a good home, and for the asking price! She told us that she had just gone to a house to look at a couch and as she walked in she could smell the marijuana in the air. I'm just glad she approved of the smell of our house (I did light candles for her visit). What an ordeal! I'll be sighing all the way to the bank.
This is the couch we traded...

For this beauty of a retro loungy couch...

So did you light candles so she couldn't smell the pot you were smoking?
That couch wouldn't be from West Elm would it??
Congrats on the new Kitchen Aid (great color), you'll love it!
