During the previously mentioned trip to California, I was able to take a trip down memory lane...or more specifically- Rustic Hills Drive. My family lived there until I was 12 and I have lots of fond memories of that house. Here are a few of my favorites:
The infamous Pop tart fire- We had a ghetto toaster that would always get stuck. My sister forgot about her pop tart one morning and it started our kitchen cabinets on fire. I slept soundly through the whole thing-Dad running with buckets of water, billowing smoke and all.
Bumblebee the duck-We found a little duckling in our yard and decided to make it our pet. We named it Bumblebee because he was black and yellow. Little did we know his feathers would change soon and he wouldn't look like a bumblebee at all. We loved that duck. Eventually we had to take him to a nearby pond so he could make some friends. The infamous Pop tart fire- We had a ghetto toaster that would always get stuck. A dog or a pony?- Our Great Dane, Heidi, was a gem of a dog. She was also huge! Rach used to ride Heidi around the yard like a horse. Heidi was also quite the protector. Every one of our neighbors was robbed multiple times. No one was stupid enough to try our house though.
Snoopy lamp-My sister, Kristina, had a beloved ceramic Snoopy lamp. When I was 6 or so I tripped over the cord and Snoopy's head broke off. I totally lied and told her that my little sister, Rachael, had done it. She believed me and I'm pretty sure she hated Rachael for the next few years.
Drive-through window- We had this awesome half-window right next to the kitchen that slid open like a drive-through window. Lots of nasty concoctions were passed through that window to siblings and neighbors hoping to get a happy meal.
Milk and Ducks- My Dad used to push us on our swingset and he'd always ask "Is this funner than milking ducks?" Until a couple of years ago, I thought he was saying "Is this funner than milk and ducks?" I never did understand the phrase, but I just played along. Even with the clarity, the phrase is still weird.

Very interesting! Always love to see what stuck out in our kids memories. The only correction I would make is that Rachael brought Bumblebee home from school; we didn't find him. We ended up keeping him because Rachael volunteered us to. We finally had to get rid of him because he kept landing in the pool and pooping!
