Gem Turquoise

I am proud to present the newest members of our household...our new dining chairs. We bought a table about a month ago and I decided it was time to flex my domestic muscles and redo some chairs for it.
I found this chair online and loved it. Each chair was $325! As this as my inspiration, I started the search for the perfect chairs to work on.I found four chairs (one shown below) on Craig's list. It took some major patience, weeks of looking, a few phone calls and tough negotiating, but I got them. I am horrible at negotiating, so after some coaching by Mike and cheer leading along the way, I was able to get all four for $60.

I admit, I had no idea how much work these would be. True Amber fashion would be to buy the cheapest paint and supplies possible, start painting, get bored halfway through, and desert the project all together. This time I had Mike to help me endure. He spent countless hours painting every little inch of the cane backing and scouted near and far for a staple gun to redo the cushions. He definitely wins the "Husband of the Year" award for this project!
10 hours of painting and $125 later, this is the finished product...

It was definitely worth it. I think I'll put some piping around the cushions to finish them off, but I love them! I'm like a proud mother. Just call me Holly Homemaker! I won't even be offended.

Holly Homemaker, indeed! These look awesome, Amber. Props to Mike for motivating you to the finished product.

I remember my first "furniture covering" project... it really puts you in a whole new level of domestic-ness!

Wow - I need some homemaking tips. Tom is just finishing up your wedding video... when are you free when we're there? We'll be in Oregon the week before Labor Day.

Well hello Miss Amber, aren't you the lil creative one?! I just found you here from your facebook. I put you on my "friends list". If you want to open mine and can't, let me know, I'm not too smart with this whole blogger thing still. Hope you're doing great! Where are you living?
